Michael Vincent Breheny
Michael Vincent Breheny was born in New York City in 1956. He attended Cathedral
Preparatory Seminary from 1970-1974. After graduating he attended Belmont Abbey
College in North Carolina where he played NCAA Division III basketball and tennis.
He graduated in 1978 with degrees in Marketing and Management. He continued his
education at the H.B. Maynard Management Institute in Charlotte, N.C. where he
concentrated his course work in Industrial Engineering.
Mr. Breheny began his business career with Emhart Industries, a Fortune 100 Company
in 1979. He spent four months training in Berlin, Connecticut before being awarded a
sales territory in Texas. He traveled East and West Texas out of Dallas and achieved
all of his sales goals in four months, including opening the largest account in the
history of the company.
Disenchanted with management changes he left Emhart for a management position with
the Harley Hotel Corporation in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Here he became familiar
with retail food and beverage management as well as the ever increasing need for
marketing and promotion in this industry.
While working in Florida he met Lea Foley, the woman who was to become his wife
and moved to Chicago in 1982 to embark on yet another career path. He became a
sales engineer for Subcon Industries, a contract packaging and assembly business.
Within two months of being hired, Mr. Breheny was elevated to a management position
with the company where he remained as its Vice President and General Manager until
1989. During his tenure there the company's gross sales increased over 400%.
At this time, Mr. Breheny was recruited to become the Vice President of Marketing,
Advertising and Promotions for J. R. Management Inc., a Chicago based Mangement and
Consulting firm for the retail food and beverage industry. J.R. Management handled
several establishments which included Ditka's Restaurants and the Juke Box Saturday
Night Chain.
In September of 1989 he met Don Calarco. Mr. Calarco, then President of Dyna Group
International, recruited Mr.Breheny to assist him in rebuilding his former company
Great American Marketing Services. For two years the two men worked diligently to
elevate the division back into prominence for Dyna Group, but differences in management
philosophies with the CEO forced them to make a change.
In September of 1992 Mssrs. Calarco and Breheny became partners and re-founded
American Marketing. Since that time their client list has grown to include corporate
giants such as Ameritech, Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, United States Tobacco Company,
Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers, Bulova Corporation, Allstate Insurance, Domecq Importers,
The Earthgrains Company, Van de Kamps and more.
Mr. Breheny lives in Chicago with his wife Lea and his two sons, Michael 21 and
Daniel 18. He is active as both a basketball and baseball coach for his sons. Return to the About Us Page |
